Reinvent the Toilet Fair

Conceptualized by the Gates Foundation, Reinvent the Toilet Fair was held in Delhi, India to showcase pioneering sanitation technology for the developing world. Leading universities and R&D organizations from all across the globe participated, showcasing their working prototypes – shipped and reassembled from across the world at the venue. As the Project Manager and Lead Designer, we worked in co-ordination with the Seattle based event director and the participating teams to ensure the prototypes were ready to be showcased to the visiting dignitaries and heads of state invited by the Foundation.

Reinvent the Toilet FairOur role required extensive communication with the participating teams as well as the Gates Foundation Seattle team. Graphics for the fair were designed at the Seattle office, with contextual inputs from our team. The visual language for the event was derived from the final design created by their graphics team.

Prototypes + VenueA specially developed semi-transparent fabric ceiling was created since some of the prototypes were dependent on solar power. The fair had technologies in different stages of development; some field ready while others required us to simulate controlled laboratory conditions, while also providing specific scientific equipment.
